Customer experience is often discussed separately from succession. Intellectual property is handled in another lane. Data privacy enters the picture only when risk becomes visible. In actual business life, however, these matters do not stay separate for long. They converge in the daily question of whether an enterprise can protect trust while it grows, transitions, or changes hands.
That was the focus of Serious Business Talk, a full-day forum convened by the Iloilo Business Club, Inc., with Cornelius Magnate Engagement & Consulting. The program gathered business owners, executives, and practitioners in Iloilo for discussions on customer experience, governance, succession, intellectual property, and reputation.
The event also reflected the direction of Cornelius Magnate Engagement & Consulting’s work in the region. The Iloilo-based firm has been expanding its consulting and training practice across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, with engagements that address innovation, organizational capability, customer experience, communication, and reputational risk. Beyond advisory work, the firm has also been designing forums that surface difficult business issues and give them structured treatment.

Leading the program was Ken Lerona, Principal Consultant, Founder & President of the firm. As a business consultant in Iloilo, Lerona has built a practice around connecting strategy to operations and leadership decisions to organizational systems. His work as an innovation consultant in Visayas and Mindanao includes executive workshops and advisory services on innovation, customer experience strategy, organizational capability development, and reputational risk management.
The morning session, Building a Holistic Ilonggo Branded Experience Mindset, focused on customer experience as something built through systems rather than goodwill alone. Atty. Lcid Crescent Fernandez of Prometheus – The Prominent Enterprise discussed how technology and planning systems support human-centered service. Gabriel Lorenzo J. Garcia of Romac Visayas Services, Inc. addressed frontline discipline, especially the operational basics customers notice immediately: order, cleanliness, and service consistency. Reynard Buga-ay of AyalaLand VisMin added a real estate perspective, emphasizing the role of estate operations, tenant coordination, and long-term property management in shaping experience.
The afternoon session, Safeguarding Enterprise Values Across Generations: IP, Succession, and Reputation, moved into the legal and governance side of continuity. Atty. Ed T. Reyes III of ETRIII Law provided general legal information on the structures that help preserve enterprise value. Joining him in the intellectual property discussion were Atty. Nestor Jeremy Moreno and Atty. Karen Anne Vega. The succession planning segment was led by Atty. Gelie Rose P. Famillaran-Naciongayo and Atty. Kchyrziahshayne Dyñelle V. Dinopol, with Atty. Mae-Z Clarito and Atty. Camille Fuentes joining the panel. The data privacy discussion was led by Atty. Juanito Balasote III, with Atty. Jan Renzo Besa, Atty. Athena Gabrielle Eguia Julabar, Atty. Nestor Jeremy Moreno, and Atty. Noel Christopher Bellezaparticipating in the panel.
The participation of Ms. Marianne Bebit of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines added a policy and institutional layer to the forum. Her presentation underscored the importance of protecting brand identity, proprietary assets, and business distinctiveness as enterprises move into wider markets.
What the forum showed, more than anything else, was a shift in the expectations placed on regional business leadership. Enterprises in the Visayas are being asked to think with greater discipline about systems, continuity, and risk. Cornelius Magnate Engagement & Consulting used this forum to make that conversation more concrete, more current, and more useful to decision-makers in the region.
